Promoting community dialogue and action on gender based violence through theatre
To mark the International Women’s Day Integrationsteatern in partnership with Savanna Trust (Zimbabwe) are proud to share some highlights from our just ended joint cultural exchange project “Promoting community dialogue and action on gender-based violence through theatre”, including four original scripts.
The cultural exchange project is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging dialogue on gender-based violence (GBV). The 3-year cultural exchange programme's objectives were to enhance artists knowledge and skills in articulating issues of women's rights and gender through arts and cultural activities, to improve access to information and dialogue about women's social, economic and political rights, as well as to destigmatise victims of violence against women and enhance women's voice on this issue at the community level. As a result through the project we’ve noted increased awareness and understanding among men and women in the two project communities on issues of gender and women's rights, increased involvement of men in dialogue about violence against women, 4 developed scripts on the theme created through the dramaturgical support programme.
Through our artistic efforts we join the global community in the call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Project financed by the Swedish Institute.
